Rich History / Radical Future

Walhalla Farm is a family-owned, seven-acre farm in Schoharie County, NY. Walhalla is dedicated to serving artists and was founded by two queer artists - Basil Kreimendahl and Ely Kreimendahl.

The lands Walhalla Farm occupies are Kanien'kéha:ka (Mohawk) lands. To learn more about Schoharie County’s indigenous people and the incredible work they’re doing to heal wounds you can visit The Waterfall Unity Alliance.

At one point, Walhalla was the largest Swiss Brown dairy farm in the Northeast. It was given its name by the Van Wie’s - the family whose dairy farm lasted into the late 1970’s, and who built many of the structures we are slowly turning into space for artists and community. You can still find the dairy schedule posted in our barn.

We recognize the rich and problematic history of Walhalla Farm as we move forward into a radical future.

The name Walhalla, derived from old norse, suggests a warrior heaven. In this version of Walhalla, it is our artists who are the warriors.
